Our top picks for aprés ski in Queenstown

25/03/2020

There’s no better way to top off a great day on the slopes than unwinding over a glass of mulled wine and a beautiful cheeseboard with friends in picturesque downtown Queenstown. We’re so lucky to have an amazing selection of bars and restaurants to choose from. Here are a few of our top picks.

LITTLE BLACKWOOD

Discover Little Blackwood, a cosy hideaway tucked up on the lakefront in the famous Steamer Wharf. They are known for their delicious Cheese & Meat Platters, using locally produced Gibbston Valley Cheeses, handcrafted Zamora meats, Otago honeycomb, freshly picked grapes and pear & fig chutney. Our favourite tipple is the Meet Me Here Espresso Martini, made with vanilla vodka, Kahlua, warming house made cinnamon syrup and a shot of espresso.

RHINO’S SKI SHACK

A real local’s secret, Rhino’s Ski Shack will take you back to the European ski slopes, with an authentic kiwi twist. With ski and board storage, you can make this your straight-from-the-slopes destination. Warm up with a glass of their secret recipe mulled wine or a Hot Buttered Rum. They also have a selection of $5 beers on tap. With long tables and table-top games to enjoy, bring your whole crew for a great night out!

YONDER

Funky hot spot Yonder offers yummy bites, a great selection of New Zealand wines and beers, and creative cocktails. Enjoy eclectic live music while munching on Miso Pumpkin Bites or Hummus Plate and keep things spicy with their Warm Winter Punch, made with Bombay Sapphire, sherry, orange, ginger, lemon and cranberry.

CARDRONA DISTILLERY

Experience handcrafted spirits made at the base of the Cardrona Ski field at the Cardrona Distillery. The first spirit flowed in November 2015 and their collection of delectable includes a single malt vodka, gin made with locally-foraged rosehips and a range of liqueurs – orange, elderflower, butterscotch and cherry. They have recently released their ‘Just Hatched’ Single Malt Whisky, a real treat. They offer daily tours to learn all about the history and production process.
